The Manic Americans pay an early morning visit to the sprawling, labyrinthine Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market (aka Tsukiji Market). At Tsukiji, countless sea creatures from all over the world are processed–often by hand–for sale to distributors and restaurants. Unlike American food processing and wholesale operations, the entire market is open to the public. The tuna auction floor is famous and supposedly tourist-friendly, but we ventured into other areas to capture some behind-the-scenes action.
