DS09 Phase V: Texas BBQ Tour 2009
In 2008, Texas Monthly named Texas’ Best BBQ joints, shacks and restaurants. Since then, The Manic American has been on a quest to visit them all.
It was the last stop of the trip, sandwiched between two airport drop-offs. We were driving around Austin and saw what looked like a school bus that had been turned into some kind of giant smoker. There was no way we weren’t going to check it out.
We pulled up and ended up spending about an hour with Dan Parrott and Trey Buell Cook III, the Old School BBQ & Grill team, who gave us a full tour of their operation and cooked us some damn good burgers, hot links and fries.
