Here in New York, the days are getting shorter and the pre-Christmas tourist mobs are already choking Midtown. But there’s an even surer sign that fall is in full swing: people are starting to ask when we’ll host the next CPC. We have a date — more on that below — but first we need to unearth the photos from CPC ’13!
The CPC, originally called the College Point Class Conflict Pub Crawl, became a thing purely by accident, driven by people’s curiosity about the bizarre. It started with a twentysomething’s immature and acerbic blog post about exploring the dive bars in his home neighborhood of not-that-far-flung College Point, Queens. And it’s evolved into a nine-year tradition of friendship and urban exploration.
Though we certainly have regulars, the CPC always extends an open invitation — friends, randos, newbies, and haters are all welcome. The crew changes every year.
Today we celebrate the CPC Class of 2013, the intrepid crew of new and old friends who finally made it to the College Point Yacht Club’s private bar, then crossed the neighborhood on buses, on foot, and in the bed of a pickup truck to enjoy a fantastic Sichuanese dinner at Little Pepper. After experiencing vestiges of both old and new College Point, this crew then crawled the bars into the wee hours of the morning.
